An investor named Hideya Kamada paid $7.9 million, or $316,000 per unit, for a 25-unit apartment building in southeast Evanston, according to Cook County property records. Mr. Kamada bought the property at 834-40 Judson Ave. from a venture of Chicago-based Maven Management LLC, which paid $4.5 million for the building in 2006, the records show. A Maven executive didn't return a call, and Mr. Kamada declined to comment, said Mike Zucker, principal at Chicago-based Peak Properties LLC, which manages the building. Matt Jones, managing director of Chicago brokerage Kiser Group, and Mike Anguiano, senior managing director at Kiser, represented the Maven venture in the deal. The sellers rehabbed the building with condo-quality finishes and added new mechanical systems to the structure, Mr. Jones said in a statement.
